Summer: A Short Little Poem
March 20, 2008 by xxxegxxx
Summer
by Emma
It comes quietly–
springing up on you in
one moment
one second
one heartbeat,
that sudden feeling
where the sun shines so brightly
and the soft blue sky glows
and inside of you something breaks
and winter fades
and then you know
it’s summer.
Beautiful. I want it so bad. (Summer, that is!)
I was leaning against one of the windows in the Odyssey hallway with the sun streaming in today at lunchtime and the warmth seemed to melt that place your poem speaks of inside of us, that holds on all winter, waiting. Thanks for giving voice to the beautiful changes that are happening as we exit winter… tomorrow is the first day of spring!
happy spring equinox!
