Compassion
A Poem by Katie Gildner
Compassion is a sweet,
Golden ray of
Sunlight,
Penetrating a
Never ending dark tunnel
Of misery, fear
And shame.
Compassion is a hand,
Outstretched
To dry the tears of the
Poor and suffering
And to lift them
Back to their feet.
Compassion is a pale, white rose,
Blooming amidst roses
Red as blood,
And as dark as night.
Compassion is eternal hope,
So deep and so whole,
Not even a demon or a shadow
Can penetrate its light.
Compassion is the moon,
Glowing and burning,
Even when the inky darkness
Presses itself threateningly
Against it.
Compassion is realizing you’re part of
More then you think.
Part of a universe,
Part of a world,
And part of peace.
