Preface

“My name is Theresa I was born in France during 1760’s but I am not quite sure when but before Marie Antoinette came to France. My father was a noble in the court of the king before Marie Antoinette and her husband took the throne.

“I was about to be married to a noble man in the court. The princes in the court all said I was petite and beautiful a small waste and I kept up with all the styles. Being there when Marie Antoinette came to France I was there until I was about seventeen.

“Now for how I got turned.

“One night I was walking around the woods around the palace of Versailles. When out of nowhere one of the princes and his people came up to me and said ’ come here little girl’. So I started to run but with heels and a big hoop skirt. They were faster then me and then they caught up with me and began breaking my bones. I wont tell you the rest of it because it is so gruesome and I do not remember it all. But when they left me I was left bleeding in the middle of the woods. Then all of a sudden I was off the ground and I was lifted off the ground by an enormous creatures. After a while of flying it was getting colder. And when I when this creature laid me down again I thought I was in heaven until the creature turned from a huge creature that was bigger then most of the Versailles courtyards her scales were the shade of night blue. When he turned into a human he had night blue eyes orange hair and then carried me into the house we were near.

” ‘Andean are you home?’ was what the creature that was a dragon was. ‘ Yes Silene what do you want today?’ the man who I believed was named Andean said. ‘ She is badly hurt I was flying over Versailles and smelled her blood and decided she should be able to live longer instead of dying and leaving this world forever.’ he the dragon named Silene.

” ‘ Of course. Now sweetie this will hurt really badly for about a day then you will be stronger and powerful and beautiful.’ he said. Then he bit me and I screamed it hurt worse then the pains all over the rest of my body. Then I passed out. But I woke up a few times before when I was changing and when I did Andean started to tell me about the life of a vampire and how he was turned. It seemed he was in pain when I was awake there was also another vampire in the house it was a woman and whenever she came into the room she had to plug her nose. Andean told me that she was his soul mate and it was hard for him to be away from her and with me all the time. He said he was made in 1000 ad France where religion was the most important thing and when monsters were feared and that everyone looked to god as the answer to everything and it still was but not as much as everyone was back then. When I woke up I went to a mirror I was beautiful more beautiful then all the girls in the court. Then I changed how I looked. Andean already told me I would be a vampire.

“ ‘ Andean’ I said. ‘ Theresa what is it that you want?’ Andean said to me I was achingly thirsty ‘ I am very thirsty.’ I said to him and then Andean entered the room. ‘ Of course you are it is normal for you to feel this way when you first become a vampire way more then when you have not had a drink yet.’ Andean said. ‘ Lets go Theresa we will go out hunting for animals-‘ then I stop him right then. ‘ But I am thirsty for something way different then animal blood’ I said. ‘ Of course you are but you do want to be a civilized vampire and live among the humans like me well that might take a little of not drinking there blood.’ He said. ‘ So lets go.’

Then right after that we left the house I knew it was cold outside but I could not feel it. As I was outside I smelled something that I could not resist and what Andean told me was blood and since I was a newborn vampire It would take a little while to resist the strong urge to drink human blood but we were in a remote place in Russia he told me and far away from town which he went to work as a teacher he told me. I did not realize the smell of blood would make me want to run and drink that blood so fiercely. But I resisted because Andean said I should drink animal blood so I can live among the humans like him. So I waited for him to show me where we would go hunt where no humans would ever go near.

He took me to a remote place and we ran there at what seemed to be the speed of light. This was the easiest or hardest thing I have ever done I was not sure but I tool down a mountain lion soon after I was out there and drank all its blood out of it there was none left at all and I was now full so I waited till Andean finished hunting and then we went home. Then in about a decade we decided to go to America on boat and we got to be Americans. And when Washington became a state we moved there and into Puyallup. Now since I told you how I grew up we get to go to the now.

Seeds of Compassion was a fun and interesting trip! Those of us who went there on monday april fourteenth 2008 I think are very happy they went on this trip to go see His Holyness the Dali Llama. The people who went got here the Dali Llama speak and some other people to. I think the people who went to this will be more compassionate to others. Which is good in this day and age. With all the wars and politics going on I think we all need to be compassionate once in a while. You might do something not so big or something huge. But all that matters is that you care about other people not just yourself.

Last Monday, 4/14/08, some of the students from our school went to listen to the Dalai Lama speak. It was fun, but we couldn’t really hear anything. We were in the Key Arena, in Seattle, in the very top row. Plus, I didn’t have my glasses with me, so I couldn’t see the subtitles, but Hannah was nice and she read them for me.

At the very beginning, there were all these people running across the stage, shaking the Dalai Lama’s hand and doing all this weird stuff, but I don’t know what the heck they were doing. Then, finally, the Lama spoke.

I didn’t learn anything, because I couldn’t hear anything! And I couldn’t understand anything he was saying. In the end, it was a fun trip.
